Memorization calculator

How long does it take to memorise Juz Amma, or the whole Quran? It depends on two things: how many lessons you take each week and how much new memorisation you do in each lesson. Enter your numbers to see the estimated time and a likely completion date.

A rough estimate based on the Madinah Mushaf (604 pages, 15 lines per page), assuming every lesson is attended. Near and far revision are part of every lesson, and your teacher sets the right daily portion after the free trial lesson.

How the calculator works

The Madinah Mushaf (Hafs) has 604 pages of 15 lines each, divided into 30 juz of roughly 20 pages. The calculator multiplies your memorisation lessons per week by the new lines per lesson, then divides the pages you have left by that pace.

How we build a memorisation plan

We follow a private Al-Azhar curriculum with three fixed parts in every lesson: a new portion sized to the student, near revision of what was memorised in the last few days, and far revision of everything before it. Faster is not always better; the right portion is the one that is still memorised months later.

  • One-to-one live lessons with an Al-Azhar teacher holding an ijazah with a connected sanad.
  • A written report every month; for children, a parent report after every lesson and a monthly memorisation test.
  • Plans start at $25 a month for two 30-minute lessons a week, and the first lesson is a free trial.
